4 Ways to Celebrate Your Wins and Fuel Your Success SLPs

This year has been challenging for everyone! For many of us working as speech-language pathology professionals, it was almost surreal to have to make such a huge pivot. We want you to know that we SEE and VALIDATE you, this is not easy, and you are true ROCKSTARS!

We managed to cope with everything that life has thrown at us - new protocols, online education, referrals, meetings, and you name it. So, let's stop for a moment, take a deep breath and pat ourselves on the back because we truly deserve it!

And speaking of patting ourselves - let us ask you, how often do you stop to celebrate your wins (regardless of how big or small they seem)? If you don't, we are here to help you change this habit because celebrating your successes acts like a trampoline that sets you for success and moves you to the next level.

Why should you celebrate your wins?

Have you noticed that the moment you accomplish a task/goal or a project, your brain automatically starts searching for the next goal to achieve? That's because we humans are wired to search for the next goals, and as a result, we are constantly pushing forward to the next win and the next thing on our to-do list.

And if you don't take a moment to celebrate each of your wins, you are teaching your brain that achieving your goals is not that important. Celebrating your wins gives your life and your work meaning. And meaning is the driving force that moves us forward.

As Tony Robbins, a top-notch motivational speaker and author, says:

"You can only build on your success."

With celebration, you can bring awareness and acknowledgment for what you have already accomplished regardless of how small they might seem, which drives confidence and thought for how to build on them. It creates momentum, increases your level of motivation and overall well-being.

You get all of these benefits by just taking a moment to acknowledge your wins - it's definitely worth doing it, don't you think?

How to celebrate your wins and accomplishments?

We all are unique, and we have different ways that make us feel great, so we do have different ways of celebrating. However, here are our 4 most favorite ways to reflect on your achievements:

1) Take some time for self-care

Self-care means different things to different people. Taking a cup of your favorite coffee or tea, spending quality time with your loved ones, running, reading - whatever makes your heart sing, just go ahead and do it.

Achieving a goal is not always easy - sometimes, it might require even greater inner strength than we might realize. So taking a moment to relax and celebrate your wins with self-care will make you feel more rejuvenated and energized.

To promote your well-being and in order to make self-care a top priority for you, our team has created a freebie, the 5 steps to create a self-care and compassion routine for speech therapists. If you haven't already, you can download your freebie HERE.

2) Practice Gratitude

Practicing gratitude is really important, especially when you achieved something that you are proud of. Consider taking a piece of paper or journal and writing about all of your wins and accomplishments this year. And share with us; we would love to hear too!

3) Show appreciation

Show appreciation to the people that have helped you achieve your goal. There is no successful person that has gotten where they are without receiving any. So, it's worth showing appreciation to the people who helped you - take them to dinner, buy them a coffee, whatever you decide. And remember -the more you give, the more you receive.

4) Create a self-reflecting journal

Recording your wins can be a real motivation booster. You can record all of your wins in a diary on your phone, or you can make a video log - whatever feels best for you.  And when you feel down or demotivated - you can always reach for your winning journal and see how much you have achieved and how awesome you are. This will help you move on, no matter what.

Take the time and share.

As you can see, taking a moment to celebrate your successes has huge benefits for self-fulfillment and can set you up for future enthusiasm. We encourage you to take the time and celebrate YOU! You truly deserve it, and we are here to remind you of that and celebrate it with you if you like. Share your wins with us to get the chain reaction of positivity started. We are here to support you!
