Description:
Rachel will define and discuss neurodiversity, the neurodiversity paradigm, and autism when viewed through the lens of the neurodiversity paradigm. Rachel will then discuss some traditional therapy practices and provide examples of alternatives that foster Autistic identity, self-worth, and socio-emotional well-being.
Objectives:
Describe autism through the lens of the neurodiversity paradigm
Identify 2 common therapeutic practices within the field that do not honor Autistic identity
Describe at least 2 features of neurodiversity-affirmative practice when working with the Autistic population
